The VFW Department of Ohio Headquarters will be closed February 16, 2026, for President's Day.

USS Cleveland

For the first time in U.S. and Naval history—spanning more than 250 years—a U.S. Navy ship will be commissioned in the state of Ohio. The commissioning of the USS Cleveland is a historic milestone not only for the Navy and our city but for the entire state, showcasing Ohio’s pride. The USS Cleveland Legacy Foundation is working diligently to ensure a meaningful commissioning. Ninety young American Sailors will serve aboard our city’s namesake ship, and our Foundation remains committed to ensuring each is properly welcomed and supported. At present, 48 Sailors still require sponsorship.

Heat for Heroes

Ohio Edison hosted by Ohio Heating & Air Conditioning is currently accepting nominations for Veterans, active-duty service members, and surviving spouses who are in need of a new furnace this winter. Self-nominations are welcome and encouraged. If possible, I would greatly appreciate your help in sharing this opportunity with your Veteran community — whether through email, social media, or by placing a flyer in your facility.
